About the speakers

Helene Panzarino – Director of LIBF’s Centre for Digital Banking and Finance

Originally a commercial banker, Helene is a Director with the Centre for Digital Banking and Finance in LIBF. She is also part of the Vacuumlabs Community Bank team and an experienced fintech programme director, exited entrepreneur, educator and author. Her career boasts a number of ‘firsts’, including the FinTech Scale Programme for Rainmaking, the Inaugural Programme of Education and Events for Innovate Finance, the FinTech Entrepreneurship Masters’ for UCL.

Helene has a number of UK board and advisory roles including safeguarding for the RegTech Kalgera, the Digital Banking platform, GalGal, the UK Digital Bank Pennyworth, and the ICAEW Financial Services Faculty Board. Helene is on the 100 Women in Tech Award list, the Innovate Finance Women in FinTech Power List and the Fintech Magazine 100 Women in Fintech list. She also took part in Financial Conduct Authority’s (FCA) 2020 Data Sprint on SME Lending, the Executive Steering Committee of the CapGemini Global FinTech Report, the Advisory Board member for MoneyLive. Her book ‘Reinventing Banking and Finance: Frameworks to Navigate Global Fintech Innovation’, was the number one bestselling banking book for 2021/22 by Investopedia.

Jeremy Takle, co-founder and CEO of Pennyworth

Jeremy has been building banks globally for over 25 years. He is currently CEO of Pennyworth, a digital private bank for the aspiring affluent, as well as Non-Executive Chair of Ethos Ventures, a firm building innovative financial services that solve global challenges.

Prior to founding Pennyworth, Jeremy was Managing Director of Barclays Digital Consumer Bank, a U.S challenger bank he formed in 2016. Before that he was a member of Barclays UK Management Committee and led the transformation of Barclayloan into the UK’s largest digital lender. Jeremy was CFO and later Chief Product and Marketing Officer for Barclays Europe. He built a de-novo bank in Indonesia and launched credit-card bank Entercard in the Nordic Region. He has also completed over 30 bank merger and acquisition deals. More recently, Jeremy helped Swedish fintech Klarna develop and launch banking products.

Born in the UK and educated in Denmark, Jeremy holds a Masters in International Business from Aarhus University and an Economics degree from University of Southern Denmark. He qualified Associate and was later elected Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Bankers (forerunner to LIBF). He has also attended INSEAD in France and the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst.
